Brenda Jenkins
Brenda Jenkins is a well-known figure in Effingham County, known for her dedication to education and her passion for writing children’s books. She started her career as a teacher before becoming a principal and earning the love and respect of the community. Even after retiring, Brenda stayed busy with various jobs and started her own sewing and embroidering business. Her journey as an author began when she participated in a breast cancer walk. To occupy her mind while training for the walk, she started creating rhymes about her grandson. After being diagnosed with breast cancer herself, Brenda found strength and motivation to fight the disease. During her recovery, she wrote down the rhymes and they became the foundation for her first children’s book, “The Swing on Ginny’s Porch.” Brenda’s book reflects the importance of spending time with loved ones and has inspired and supported others. She is a resilient and inspiring individual who has made a positive impact on her community and beyond.
